Decluttering - Let's Reduce Stress & Anxiety by Simplifying January!

Updated: Nov 1, 2020

So here we are with part two of this month’s series of mini blogs to help you and me to keep stress and anxiety to a minimum by simplifying all that January stuff such as decluttering, setting resolutions, creating a 2020 journal and the expectations we feel.

In this part I thought that I would cover a little bit about decluttering.

Simple Decluttering

You can turn decluttering into an enormous task and go though your life section by section and your home room by room, cupboard by cupboard, but this blog is about reducing stress and anxiety by keeping decluttering simple.

You can explore the internet and find out loads more about decluttering but for our purposes some of the benefits of Physically Decluttering your life can help mentally by...

  • Freeing up space which can reduce anxiety and stress

  • Make way for the new

  • Free up time by reducing time in maintaining your stuff

  • Provide an opportunity to work through parts of grief and loss.

To start off, firstly ask yourself what are the areas in your life that you want you declutter? Maybe it’s your email inbox, your lounge/bedroom, your wardrobe or bigger still your friendships. Then consider the following 3 simple questions...

1. Have you used it in the past year?

2. Will you use it in the year ahead?

3. Would you buy this again right now?

So don’t overthink this, all you have to do is adapt each of the above questions to suit your area of decluttering. Simple!

So what are you waiting for!

Sometimes what seems like simple decluttering can bring up some difficult stuff so I would remind you that it is important to look after yourself you are exploring what goes on for you. You can do this by journalling, talking to a trusted friend or seeking counselling.

If you want to make an appointment for counselling then you can give me a call on 07478754839.

Don’t struggle alone!
